Presidents of the United States are typically sworn in on a Bible and most chose a specific verse to be sworn in on of some significance. For instance, Herbert Hoover chose Proverbs 29:18 which is "Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he." Makes sense. Bill Clinton, the second time, was sworn in on Isaiah 58:12: "Thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations, and thou shalt be called the repairer of the breach." A lofty goal, for sure.
